Wow...a new car that captures the spirit of the 3rd generation Maximas....

The headline of a Car and Driver Article about the TSX:

"Acura joins the hunt for BMW and discovers the spirit of the old Nissan Maxima."

http://www.caranddriver.com/xp/Caran...review_tsx.xml

So there you go, Nissan. Bring back the Maxima I fell in love with.

But the "old" Nissan Maxima was not powered by a poser 4-cyl engine trying to be a V6. It actually had a REAL V6 (i.e. 6 cylinders) under the hood.

Does this make the TSX a Minima too?

I've always considered the Accord a poser because it offers both. TSX doesn't have the history of being a V-6, so.....

I'm sure a turbo option will be available within 6 months.

Yeah, I guess nothing will ever recapture the glory.

The 95-02 Accords (v6 versions) were definitely posers. I know that from first hand experience.

Dunno about the new ones though. They move.

I hear you can mod Nissans and slap turbos on them too.

This is the best part:

Here we refer to the '89 through '94 models to which Nissan affixed "4DSC" stickers (for "four-door sports car"), not the softer, larger cars that followed.

3rd gen must have something special, if the boys at CandD are still thinking about it.

My 94 looked good stock without spending every waking hour modding the crap out of it so it would get close to looking as good as a 10+ year old car.

I saw pics of Jeff's 92 after his accident. At 11 years old, his car looked newer, better, and cleaner than most 4th Gen's I've seen, including my 99 at only 4 years old.

Hehe. Steve. My leather has zero rips and barely any wear. Ask Bill. You should see the maxima I just got. Same year/color. Exterior is cleaner than my old one. Interior is not as clean but I'll swap everything. Flew to SanFran, drove the car for about 10 min, paid the guy and then drove 12 hours back to Seattle the same day. Ran flawlessly. Guy who owned it ran a 3-gen board and took good care of the car.

The 3-gen is/was just a really solid car. Starting to look/act it's age but a very good first car to have fun/mod in. That's why I bought another 3-gen VE 5-sp to hold me over until I can afford the M45 or Audi 2.7T manual. hehe

Aftermarket companies saw the 3rd gen and said there is no way the ooglie box can be made to look good, go fast, or handle well... so they decided to not make "real" mods for it.

One thing I don't understand about that article...it says trying to beat the 3 series at its own game. I thought the g35 basically did beat it, or atleast tie it. In my eyes the only thing a 3 series gives you over a g35 is "prestige". As far as what a car should be judged on(style, price, perf) it meets or beats it.

??
