brakes stuck on

brakes stuck on

traveling on the interstate the other day...and all the sudden my
speed and rpms started slowing all by themselves. By the time i traveled the rest of the way home (about 4 miles ,all 4 discs were
definitely hot.my car is a 92 se. Any sugestions????????

ps: the brake pedal is also very firm with only an inch of travel.

I had the same problem; My wheels would get so hot. It turned out to be a bad caliper, so I just replaced it.

is it possible all 4 could go at once because all 4 brakes are hot.
does one calipers performance affect the others immediately

weird stuff.. usually one caliper going bad won't affect the other three, but in your case, you may have one caliper that's overheating, causing the fluid to boil in the lines, which increses pressure in the system and causes all the calipers to clamp down harder..

try bleeding the brakes first and see what happens. while you're down there, check for frozen calipers and collapsed brake lines. then fix what's necessary.

if you don't get anywhere with that, check the vacuum lines going to the master cylinder and the master cylinder itself.


after that, just take the thing to a shop and let someone with brake experience deal with it.
