Queston for standard tranny owners about shifting when you race...
When you guys race do you keep on your foot on the gas and not take it off when you shift? I have heard of some people doing this, i think they call it powershifitng. I would imagine it would not too very good for your tranny and clutch and dont know if it would help either. Just curious...

doing this during the 1-2 shift will result in LOTS of wheelspin
the people who powershift do it on the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts.
i wouldn't recommend it tho...it probably doesn't help much if anything compared to the stress on the tranny

when i first started racing i tried this... and i would not recommend it. my clutch got hot as hell and started slipping after a couple of runs. what i try to do now is just let up on the gas, but not all the way. i don't know if is the best way or not, but i don't get that nasty clutch smell anymore.
