got a 5 speed tranny, and my 1st gear is popping out. sort of like the 5th gear popping out on the sr20 sentras and g20's. wondering if anybody else has this problem. never experienced it in my first 89 maxima, but i saved that tranny so i have an extra one i can put in.

 

my reverse does that... i havent found out let but when you find out .. you tell me.. i think it has to do with the syncros... not sure though

 

im having that problem too when i put it from parking to drive it does it on first gear started doing it 2 months ago.

 

1st sign of bearing failure. If I were you, I would avoid driving your car and fix that immediately. You need a rebuild. Do it now before you end up like me...

Save yourself a thousand dollars or so and heed my advice. Even if I'm wrong (but I'm probably not I've been through 3 trannys now) it's still worth it to you. Good luck.

 

Is that for the auto and 5 speed. and how much does it cost to do all that?

 

what are the exact symtoms of it my gears go in smoothly but i just hear a small pop sometimes can that be it.

 

yup. just curious... do you ever hear any drivetrain 'whine' when it's idling???

it's definitely a serious transmission problem and you need to have it looked at. There is no way to tell, without cracking the thing open and looking, how much it will cost so if someone quotes you something without doing an internal diagnostic then they are ripping you off. could be anywhere between $400 and $3200... !!

 

NO IT DOESNT WHINE AT ALL ALL I HEAR ITS A SMALL LITTLE POP COMING FROM THE FRONT AND ITS NOT ALL THE TIME JUST SOMETIMES WHEN ITS COLD OUTSIDE.
