Auto To Stick Swap

Anyone out there who has swaped a auto for a stick in a 2001 AE SE? I know there are some who have done this. I was wondering cost and what you did with the auto transmission? thanks

Probably easier to just trade it in on one that has a stick...

did you do all the labor yourself? most of the cost in the swap is from labor right?

depends on if you want to go with all brand new parts.

if you decided to go with a used tranny or just get everything off from an organ donor, the parts are about the same as labor.

Kevin : if you have all the correct parts with you, how long will it take to do a swap? IIRC, You guys took off the auto tranny and replaced with the manual in one night. but the clutch line took a lot longer than expected.

It'll run you around $6K if you are in NYC and have Maxximum Tuning do all the work.

dang.....6k is a lot. I assume all the parts are new. Kevin spent about 3000 on all the new parts, IIRC.

I got a quote last time from a local .org member, about 2500. used tranny and labor.

From what I heard, That includes labor and all, including a brand new 5spd tranny with HLSD.

3 people worked on it... Daniel (mingo), Matthel (Turbo95Max), and I did all the work.

If we have to do it again, I estimate 1.5 days of work since we know what to do now. The clutch lines were a pain because we had to remove the ABS unit... but you can probably bypass that step if you use an SS line with the correct fittings. Tooks us 2 days and one night to complete the project.

I did my auto to stick swap not too long ago after my tranny blew. Total parts + labor came out to roughly $2200.. I just replaced it with a regular tranny from a SE. Had about 32K on it.. After that I just got the quaife for the lsd.

I beat the hell out of my auto.. My auto with 40K lasted only like 1 month with the SC on 3.33" pulley.. Had oil cooler, vb mod and all the other stuff that an auto needs to last. But auto tranny's are just too week to handle the boost

Drop Turbo95Max a PM. He'll let me know if he needs help since he has a chop shop. Also, he'll warranty the work if we mess up. I can't offer that if I install it myself.
