will VE30DE manual tranny fit a VG30E?

i have read on these posts that the later 3rd gen trannys are more "solid." can i use a 92-94 manual tranny on my 90 SE? will it bolt up? i'm going to be upgrading the flywheel and clutch to hi-perf soon. and i gotta drop the tranny out anyway. so this thought came into my mind. anyone have any idea?

we took the engine out of a car in blue island, just south of chicago. the car has a VE manual trans if anyone wants to got make them an offer. just trying to help out if anyone wants to do the swap. i want to go get the gauges, but my new max is automatic. is there a difference in the automatic gauges and the ones for a manual. they look the same to me. thanks

Laly - the only difference is the O/D off light for autos and not there for the manual but that's not a big deal

I've HEARD that the autos are better for 92-94 compared to the 89-91 but I dont know about the manuals

If you swap one with the limited slip differential you'll need more than just the tranny... you'll need the half-shafts too, right?

$600 is pretty good price for a complete tranny in good shape. I've seen them from $300 (cracked case, good guts) to $2000 for a reman unit.
but $600 for the whole thing in one piece is a good price..

YES, VE and VG trannies will bolt up to the other's engine.

you MUST swap the axles and wheel hubs also. the VE axles are a tad larger diameter than the VG axles, so they won't slide into the hubs. Kaleb will be doing a write-up on this soon, if he hasn't already.

is it true that all 3rd gens have VLSD?

i am under the assumption that ALL 3rd gens have factory VLSD. is this correct? so all 5spd. manual swaps from the VG to the VE tranny will have VLSD. yes? and we need the axles and the hubs from the VE as well to put onto the VG series cars? and that completes the project (?)

Rebuilt tranny for $750.

I just ordered a rebuilt tranny from Mantrans.com for $750. They have a 12 month unlimited milage warrantee and I got good deal on shipping for the new unit out and sending the old core back for $75.

No, only the VE 5spd had VLSD. There aren't any VG 5spd VLSD transmissions.

VE autos have VLSD too...I know what you mean but wanted to make it clear that it isnt just available in the 5spd.

but only 92-94 SEs came with VLSD.

the VLSD trannies have a different nameplate on them. RS5F05V or something weird like that. look in your service manual for all the tranny designations. a 92-94 nissan FSM will have all the GXE/SE tranny model #s listed.

So you guys are saying a vg 5spd could fit on a ve engine but what about the fly wheel don't you have to change it to because i know for a 5spd swap u gotta change the auto fly wheel for a five speed fly wheel. i plan on doing 5spd swap within a month iand gotta know for sure what works and what doesnt. the real Question for me is can a vg 5spd fit and work properly with a ve engine?

so you mean do the opposite of what i was asking? i want a VE tranny on the VG engine. and you want the opposite. why? the VG tranny is inferior. and as far as i know, the flywheel is engine-dependent via the bolt pattern.

anyone deal with phoenixhardparts.com? thats where i plan on getting my new tranny from. $895+shipping for reman tranny and core ($85 each way). its a reman tranny with a 6month warrentee. generally excellent feedback on ebay but want more feedback from people with nissan trannys from them...
any other suggestions for a reman'ed RS5F5OV?

oh. now i got it. yes. the VE manual is rare. i wonder if itz as rare as the VG manual. were i you, i would hold out to find the VE. even if it means growing old and grey. the VG tranny is not that great. i have one. it is just "ok," but it is vulnerable to bearing failure. try going to carpart.com
i mean, the VE tranny ain't that hot either, but itz a bit more stout.
you gotta hunt it down, man. get obssessed with finding one. envision yourself already having one and it will come a knockin'. be willing to even travel out of state for one. make it a road trip. for example, i found an S14 i wanted online. i live in LA. the car was in Albany, NY. so i got a plane ticket for my girlfriend and me, and we flew to NY state. and drove the **** back across the country in february. lotsa snow and cold. but that s.o.b. little car made it. and so did we. now i got a project car that i love. so go git your tranny, dude. don't let nuttin stop you from it. i'm serious.

right. confirm it has VLSD, too, with the casting number ending in a "V."
