Question about doing brakes
Question about doing brakes
My brakes are prolly on their last leg, so I need to change them ASAP. I'm not looking for Brembo or anything like that...prolly the OE from autozone for the rotors and Raybestos (sp?) for the pads. What else do I need to buy to make sure I'm replacing everthing that needs to be replaced? I'm also gonna be lowering my car at the same time (KYB AGX Struts, Sprint Springs...anything else I'm gonna need for this as well?), so I figured, why not do it all in one shot. Thanks a lot!!
If you buy locally, get the Raybestos Quiet Stop pads all around and the Raybestos rotors, as well as some brake cleaner spray, some disc brake quiet (small pouch), spring compressors (free donor at AZ w/deposit) and some elbow grease...sounds like a fun weekend of wrenching.

Thanks!! So, there's nothing else, replacement-wise that I'm gonna need for the brakes...just the pads and rotors....then for the suspension, the spring compressor?

just my $0.02
Always get the brake hardware kit from Nissan too(Springs, shims, anti-squeal stuff, rubber booties). It'll save you headaches in the long run. Nothing wrong with stock Nissan pads either. They've always stopped me. If you get it all, a lot of dealers will cut you a good discount.

i got the ones that actually said brembo. came in red boxes that brembo written all over them.. thought i paid a little more that 30 for themthe rears were part number n1000-110116 for 32.53 for each and the fronts were part n1000-66854 54.91 each
Ok, so I'm gonna use the instructions for the brakes from motorvate.ca and lowering instructions from vqpower.com However, in both instances, they only show how to do the front tires. Are the rears done the same way (in both lowering and brakes)? Thanks!
I've "heard" (or "read", here on the 4th gen forum) that the rear brakes are a little more difficult to do than the fronts.
Supposedly, there's a special tool available that makes the three-handed-knuckle-skinning task of replacing the rear pads back into a spring clip easy.
Too bad the search function isn't available otherwise I'd probably be able to find a source for this tool again.

either a strong set of needle nose plyers or go to auto zone and rent the caliper tool.. there are 4 notches in the piston that you have to turn clockwize to make them go retract
dont know about lowering but should be the same as the fronts
