Door Moldings Or No.....

Hello my fellow 3rd Gen. Maxima fanatics,
I have a opinion question on 3rd gen. Maxima door moldings. You know the ones on the side in the middle of the door half way down? When they get old, they look like hell. Last year I replaced both moldings on the drivers side, as they came painted. They costed me around $100. for both. Now the passengers side ones are peeling clearcoat and will have to replace those as well. But looking at some member pages and other 3rd gen maxs, I see people have removed the moldings and took all the goo off and they actually look good without them I think, so my question is I was looking to get some opinions of what you think about with or without.
Sorry for the long wind.
I would appreciate any honest opinions, I thought the car might look cleaner without, just like the grill looks better without the Nissan badge.
Thanks in advance
jeff

Whatever you do, don't fill in the spot where they were, it looks pretty silly without that "character" line, IMO.

Whoa I never really saw how it looked with them removed. I want to take mine off now. How would I go about taking them off. What do I need. I know that once I get them off it will be some glue what should I do to remove that. Also will the paint be darker under there?

I used "Goo Gone" to remove the double side tape/glue underneath. And then some 3M rubbing compound ensured that the paint looked nice and bright again.

I do remember hearing someone saying to use the Goo Gone thanks. But how do I get the actual moldings off. Do I just pop them up with a flat head screwdriver or something?

I used a blow dryer to heat up the very end of the molding, then carefully used a "butter knife" to pry the molding away from the car. Then just grab the molding and pull it all the way off.
