Brake: Left pad wear out

On my 93 Maxima with front disc and rear drum, no ABS, the left front brake pad is worn out after 15,000 miles and the right front pads are like new.
Before this, some one rode my brakes and got the rotor purple -- severe overheating. Pads glazed, so changed pads and the above is the latest. The one who changed the pads only had 1 shim on each pad. I think on one side it should of had 1 and the other 2 shims. Could this have caused the problem? Or is it likely that the calipers were not properly lubercated? Or the Master cylinder is not put out equal pressure?

The brake is kind of sluggest, but doesn't pull to one side. Suggesting the master cylinder or portioning valve is okay.

Looks like new Brembo rotors and pads. Will have on-hand shoe, cylinders. What else?

Any suggestions/insights.

get two pressure gauges. fit one on each front caliper. stomp on brake pedal and have a helper read the pressure on each gauge. see if they match.

check slider pins on the calipers for binding.. clean & re=lub/replace as necessary.
might consider simply rebuilding the front calipers for $20/set.

Better yet, buy a new reman. front driver side caliper for $73.99 from Advance Auto, Driver Side / Left Side Caliper Part Number 191219 or Passenger Side / Right Side Caliper Part Number 191218....after tax and $35 core refund it's $40 or so. Extra $20 for a "perfect" sealed piston caliper is worth it instead of my time wasted dorking around with it.

Where's the web site for Advance Auto? Isn't usually the price plus the core. Then they refund the core?

for both or just one? that is interesting. I baught a do it yourself bleeder kit for 6 bucks at R&S Strauss today.. i will try and bleed my brakes. They are just new and used for like 1k miles and they feel like something is rubbing, and there seems to be a pull or jerk once every rotation when i press on the brake pedal. I just got my drums resurfaced and my front rotors are new. i dont know hwats wrong. maybe it could be what matt said and could be a difference of brake line pressure.. but i am going nuts trying to figure this out.. can air in the brake lines cause on brake corner to not engage properly? or does the air travel the whole brake like to the master brake cylinder.?
