Key broken in the door.. how to get it out? Help

WEll after 12 years of use.. my key finally gave out.. funny thing was that i put the key into the lock and turned it and the lock opened. I was taking the key out the hole and it broke as i was taking it out.. thank god for the key pad keyless entry, which is what i use now to get in the max.. also thank god for a copy of the key.. when i purchased my max about 2 years ago i made 3 copys of the master key... i always carry a spare just in case.

any how is there anyway i can get that broken key out? Can i take the cylinder to the lock smith and have them take it out...?? what are my options.?

drive to a locksmith, Im sure they could take it out. Depending on where it broke you could probably get it out your self with some tweezers and other small tools

Damn a toothpick, what kind of material is it made of. I would think that it would break easily in the process of trying to get the broken key out.

sit back and enjoy a brew.

broken key

I had this happpen to me in my ignition a couple of years ago. I called a locksmith, and they came to my house to fix it. I think it was around $50. Good luck.

If you take a medium sized safty pin (not a needle, needles are hardened and will break) and a pair of pliers, Use the pliers to bend the last 16th of an inch of the pin into a hook. You can then fish the end of the key out with the hook. You might want to write down the four digit code on the side of your old key. The dealer can cut a new key with the numbers. You can use the same numbers to make a valet key, you just need a valet key blank.
