325i and Maxima have a much better longevity than the LS... service may be the same, depending on the dealer.

The 325i is definitely more $$$ ($10k more than the Maxima)... the LS is a GREAT car for the price (and the small V8 is a good engine)... if you want luxury, go for the LS, if you want sportiness and 'label', get the 325i... if you want sportiness and a great car for the price, go with the Max!

I personally looked at either a 300M, LS, or a Max... and I chose the Max... definitely don't regret it, either!

the max is a great car, I love mine..the power is unreal....besides the crappy paint, really disappointing Bose system, and torque steer (which is inevitable with a high output FWD car), I think its really a nice car!

I went from to a 2000 5spd Celica to a 2K3 Auto Max..and I just love my Max to death now..I thought I was gonna regret not gettin a 6spd, but like you said for daily driving..auto is the way to go..NO complaints at all!! As for Power..its all there...I love the feel of the 255hp V6..almost like your untouchable.."almost"! The crappy Bose system I simply fixed that with a new amp and subs..didnt even have to replace the 6 in-dash CD HU....definitely go for the MAX.."More bang for your buck"!!

I would suggest to anyone considering a Chrysler product...DON'T!!! You will be in for more disappointment and reliability problems than you ever thought possible. Chrysler products suck...period...

Thanks for your opinion. Next time try and state facts to back up your position. I happen to own Chrysler products that have never had a problem of any kind requiring me to take them back to the dealer for service. I can't say the same for my '03 Maxima GLE, though.

And just last week there was a lemoned 350Z at Performance Nissan in GA, but I guess that's of no concern. By the way, they were not happy...

Except for tranny replacement at 20,000 I like the max. What's up with that tilt steering? It tilts the entire shaft not just the wheel and it's hard to access under the dash. Passenger side mirror is too large so I can't angle it out enough to grab the blind spot.

Not to make light of your situation, but I feel I must post this:

Fiance's Side of the Family:

Dad: 86 Taurus Wagon = 290,000 miles
Mom: 97 Taurus Wagon = 70,000 miles
Brother: 90 Taurus Sedan = 250,000 miles
Fiance: 93 Mercury Sable = 145,000 miles

My side:
Dad: 95 Ford Explorer = 80,000 miles
Mom: 01 Ford Explorer = 25,000 miles
Brother: 01 Ford Explorer = 32,000 miles
Brother: 93 Ford Explorer = 98,000 miles
Me: 91 Ford Explorer = 149,000 miles

No major problems from any. The Taurus' all had transmission rebuilds at around 100,000 (same for my Explorer). The only things to go wrong are the usual stuff after 100k (water pump, rack, etc). It will be interesting to see how my 02 Max fairs. Next week we are moving closer to work and the Max will start seeing daily duty.

Me: 2002 Maxima = 18,000 miles

guess I've had bad luck with american cars because EVERY single american car I've owned before my japanese purchases were pieces of ****....

1990 Dodge Dynasty with 43,000 miles - 2 replaced trannys with a third on the way before lease was up

1987 Mercury Sable with pitted paint, multiple issues
1999 Chevy Blazer with rattles galore
1997 Grand Cherokee with bad compressor, broken infinity sound system, leaking tranny

I could go on for days....with my track record, the japenese cars have proven to be better...NOT PERFECT, but better!

OUCH!! I feel your pain. The 91 Explorer had 7 recalls, the most serious being faulty seatbelt and gas tank integrity. There was also a valve cover gasket leak in the first year. After all of that, I thought the car would not see 10k. Since that time, I have had no problems at all. Weird.

My 1997 Dodge Intrepid had a 3.5L V6 that was a beautiful engine.

First tranny went at 101,000... second went at 105,000... third was iffy when I sold it at 115,000...

No more American cars.
