Slipping tranny fix procedure, VB mod instructions

so i just bought a 2k gxe with 85k miles from carmax. i don't realize until a week into it that my tranny slips under some conditions.

they are looking at it right now, but they are having a hard time believing it is happening.

assuming i can't get these guys to fix it, i am going to have to do it myself. according to the TSB, that means replacing the solenoid valve assembly ($351) and possibly the tranny control module ($524).

i figure, while i am in there, i should go ahead and do the VB mod for crisper shifts. does anyone see any flaws in this logic?

also, where can i find a detailed write up on doing the VB mod? i couldn't find it in the howto section.

also, does anyone know of any aftermarket vendors that would have a cheaper/better valve assembly, or is this something that is so specific to this particular tranny that no one but nissan would make it?

any information is greatly appreciated!!!

You want the dealer to do a "mod" for you?

Let me know how much they will charge to install a supercharger or maybe a nitros kit for me as well.

TCM and solenoid is covered under powertrain warranty, it looks like your over that.

I am going in to have my 3rd tranny looked at. 1st two lasted a total of 50k miles. If it is slipping get it fixed fast, tranny is next. Sorry to scare you if I did.

Hope that the last owner took the car to nissan for regular service.

If the owner did regular maintenance, try to get a copy of the car's history and review if the tranny had the TSB done. I'm not sure but I think service center's computer are linked. The service center I take my max to can pull up the last time you were there and what was done and so on.

Anonymously, call Nissan NA and see how they would treat your condition. Make up some hypothetical scenario. Or simply ask if the TSB was not done by the original owner but was needed, will they take care of it and so on

Last try, search good review service centers in your area and take it there and wing it trying to get them do the TSB.

brush up on your social engineering skillzz, you're gonna need it
