No filter for most cars actually, but you can use an inline filter
on the cooler line.

I used a magnefine.
I also used one on the power steering.

The only filtration is the magnets on the bottom of the tray.
very very minimal.

Not quite true. There is a "filter" inside the transmission. Actually, it's just a metal screen. You have to drop the pan to get to it. When I dropped the pan on my 2000 SE, the magnets were quite clean (a lot cleaner than Donkeypunch's magnets), so I just cleaned the magnets but did not bother to replace the filter/screen. I had - and still have - the replacement part, but removing and re-installing the bolts (of varied length) that hold the screen in place is a PITA.

Ya there's a screen there but don't fool yourself,
that metal screen doesn't filter jack.

Unless you drop idk what, take a guess, in the fill tube all of the particles are
going to be ultra fine metal from the clutches and gears.

Maybe large sized beach sand that got in your ATF bottles or on the funnel?

I just replaced the fluid and filter in my 01 yesterday and the filter is the exact same one posted above. I got it from advance auto.
