Nah guys, Donald's right. I've regretted converting to 5spd everyday, more and more. I miss the weak, powerless acceleration and the lack of control. 
Racing a stock Automatic Maxima against a stock 5spd is like making Anna Nicole Smith try to play Serena Williams in a tennis match. One of them is going to get slaughtered, and probubly have a heart attack in the process.

hmmm, maybe thats why i get a funny burning smell....
yeah, ANYWAYS, you need to learn how to drive if your getting a buring type of smell. I roasted my clutch the first day i got my car (hadnt driven stick on a reg basis for well over a year) and i about hurled the smell was so bad...
and PS...dont EVER say an auto is better than a manual

amidst my tranny crisis here, i think ive come to a conclusion to keep my max auto, solve the lag problem and im set. Personally for me to enjoy manual i have to drive it every once in awhile as opposed to everyday.

You might be getting the stink because I know I used to get it when I was leaking tranny fluid.. That thing would really stink after driving it.

manual is a ***** on long hauls. my previous car was a manual so i do know.
autos do not suck, and are annoying at most when they shift when you dont want them to. and the only reason they are 'slower' is because you have 4 vs 5 gears in most manuals. now even 6. but with auto 5 and 6 gears coming up soon to be common that will all change. and don't say something sucks just because your transmission is wasted or you can't shift or whatever.
