Actually I think they do. Oddly as it may seem, I have seen two cars (black S2000 and something else)here in Charlotte with Hawaii plates. And if I rememeber correctly they had front plates too.

I don't normally look for plates but those things stand out like Hawaiian shirts. You can't miss them.

 

yeah its required, but I got away without using it for almost a yr, what you really need to worry about is recon insepection if you have any mods on your car

I've driven for a few years without a front license plate... the only time they stopped me was when they had the Van-Cams out... Got a ticket for no front license plate... i contested it and they threw it out. Van-Cams are gone now... But i dunno where the law stands...

what does recon mean/stand for?

 

reconstruction sticker .. any change to your car i.e. exhaust, rims bigger than two sizes up, springs etc etc and you have to get a recon sticker from the local police dept.

well back in the day the locals use to do a lot of really "custom" work to their cars and trucks. something along the lines of strictly backyard baked 4x4s and spring cutting lowriders.. so to enforce the proper modding of cars and trucks with real manufactuered parts, you must present a sales receipt for mods (and i think in some cases a receipt for the install) to the police dept for a recon sticker that you put on the back of the car. if a cop pulls you over and you dont have a sticker and your car is modded you pay out the **** $$$$$. so yeah German ****.

 

Damn, man, where did they catch you? Sorry to hear that. I need recon too, and my safety inspection is due in June. I didn't know you needed receipts...shoot, I gotta look for those.

About the front license plate thing....YES, you need both plates, front and back.

In Minnesota they can't pull you over for not having a front license plate. They can only write you a ticket for it if you get pulled over for something else. Same goes with things hanging from your rearview mirror. i.e.- I got a fix-it ticket for air fresheners hanging there.

 

Eh, wassup! When you come this summer you can grind Hawaiian food and plate lunches. Thanks for the compliments..man your car has so many goodies on it already too. All kinds of new and unique stuff. what up. Im in boston right now (cold!!!!!!!!) The turbo project is finished, I still have a few tuning issues, but Im hoping to take it to get dynoed, in a few weeks. I want to break 350fhp and run 12s at the track
