5k or 6k LED?
Hey guys. Was just about to buy some LEDs from VLEDS for both the reverse lights and license plate. I want the lights to match the front DRLs. My first question - do you think the DRLs are 5k or 6k? I cant tell. Also has anyone looked at the housing for the reverse lights? It looks really small...much smaller than the 7th gen. Wanted to get these but it's hard to tell from the pic if they'll fit. http://www.vleds.com/7440-white-6k-ho.html

Drl Color
Hey buddy, I don't have a 8th gem max but I do have a 7th gen max with everything you can think of 5k white and I can tell your that the led drls on most new cars are 5k. If they were 6k they would have a bluish tint to them plus LEDs usually only come in a 5k color anyway. Also, 5k has the most light output and best visibility.

So based on some research and looking at the manual, the large 7440, 1000 lumen reverse LEDs I found on Vleds are not going to fit. Which is too bad, because I had 7440 for my reverse on the 7th gen and the lights were crazy bright. Based on the diameter of the housing on the 8th gen, it looks like only the 921's will fit.
Unlike the 7th gen LED brake lights, we have the ability to change the brake lights to a much brighter 7440 LEDs.
Also based on the Manual -
W16W = 921
W21W = 7440

I am looking for some bright reverse lights, so I can see where I'm backing in a completely dark setting. I see that one of you mods is "Reverse LEDs". How bright and where did you get them? You also say that the 7440s on your 7th gen were "crazy bright" but that they won't fit the 8th gen. By the way, I have a Platinum that has some very dim reverse lights. Thanks.
I was originally looking at the 1000 lumen 7440s, but based on the diameter of the tail light bulb housing and the depth of the tail light, it doesn't appear it will fit. (I would love for someone to prove me wrong) I ended buying the 500 lumen 921s...they're okay...but IMO not as bright as the 7440s I had on my 7th gen.

You would think in the latest gen we would have LEDs throughout the entire car (ie turn signals, etc.)
