To or not to rotate tires
Hey guys,
I bought a 2k se manual about 3 months ago. Now it has about 60k miles on it. The tires that came with are Dunlop Sport A2, I think 215 or 225 on 16" wheels - these aren't original tires, correct?
Now, esp. since the car is front wheel drive and I sometimes spin the tires a little when I launch fast
, the front tires have noticably less treads than the rear one. I don't think the original owner of this car ever rotated tires. So it looks like the front ones have about 3/16" left - about to go - and the rear ones have about (5-6)/16" left. I should get new tires but I'm gonna try to use these up during this summer.
So the question is: is it better to swap the front and the rear ones at this point? That way the rear tread wear can catch up to the front ones while giving me more grip when I'm starting out or accelerate heavily - esp in rain. I know you usually want the rear ones to have more grip so the car won't spin out but I don't take corners tightly or street/track race. I'm very good at controlling cars so instability shouldn't be an issue.
Are there any benefits or draw backs I haven't considered? Any inputs are welcome.

tires should be rotated every 5000 miles in order to prolong its life. make sure your tires are not directional tires and rotate the rear tire to the front on the same side. Dont corss them.
2k SE uses bridgestone pontanza on the 17inches
2k GLE/GXE uses toyo on the 16 inches.

Most mechanics will just do a front-back swap with a FWD car these days. BTW the SP Sport A2 is not the original tire, I found it to be an excellent replacement for the Craptenzas on my previous car. Espescially for wet/snow/ice traction and they are a lot quieter on the highway too - CR had it very highly rated above other more expensive tires.
The treadwear warranty on that tire is 80,000 km (about 50,000 miles) so I am surprised that yours are so worn down already.
