valve cover

Does anyone know if there is a way to get the valve cover off a VG engine without taking off the distributor? Also I checked my service manual and could not find a torque sequence for the valve cover. Can any one help me out with that?

Thanks!

I don't think so...unless you have some sort of super angle screw driver or something, I see no way to get to that bolt thats under he distributor. STUPID NISSAN!!!

you can't. just note which way the distributor is pointing when you pull it off, then be sure to line it back up that way when you put it back on.

oh well

Thanks for the info! I agree Nissan design there sucks. A few more inches could have saved on a whole lot of time.

Thanks!

a few more inches would have required the heads to be in a different part of the car because the distributor rotor runs off the front cam. can't exactly move it.

also, why would you worry about an extra 15 minutes on a job that's only done once every ten years? it's not like you have to remove it to do an oil change.

Don't you realize that all car manufacturers now a days create a tool and design a car to fit it. Look under the hood of any new car and there isn't much room to work there.
