Looking for best sound from intake...
Looking for best sound from intake...
I'm getting ready to purchase a intake for my 2k2 max and wanted some opinions. As of now, I've narrowed it to Injen, Frankencar, or Stillen. GAB is not an option. From what I hear they are about equal when it comes to performance gains (if any). I mainly want a better sound from the engine. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Anyone had a chance to hear all 3 or a better one.
Thanks
Thanks

Lets see, warranty issues, resale value, irreversible mod.

ive got a stillen and love the way it sounds. It growls and has a little whistle. Im gonna put the frankencar midpipe on soon and see what kinda differences in sound that makes. But i really like how my stillen sounds.

What ScreamingVQ said is all it takes.. it has to be the cheapest mod you can get for this car!!
And for those of you who say "well it gets dirtier" -- COME ON!! And you think an Injen won't get as dirty? How about a CAI for that matter?

I'm just trying to show this isn't a bad option and doesn't require a lot of money to get the results you want.. Might not be the BEST, but I hate to see reasonable things get tossed out for silly reasons..
Ok, how about I'd rather pay $200 for something that sounds better and looks really good. If your too poor to do buy an intake, you would've been better off buying a Spec-V.
Although the Stillen is nice, it doesn't really give you a good growl like you probably want. FrankenCar and Injen both have very good growls over 3k and the FrankenCar sounds awesome at 4k and over. I'm not sure about the Injen. The best person to answer that question is blubyu2k2 as he has both. Blu, what's your opinion on both intakes?

First off any intake will cause a warranty issue. Secondly any intake will cause resale value problems, third this is not irreversible.. You can buy (or find at a junkyard) a recplacement cover for pennies.

The car will not be sold with the aftermarket filter in place.
After all the time I have spent at junkyards when I was younger looking for parts to fit my 510, that is the last place I want to go.
