Is 23,500 too much for 03?

Hey all I have question about a price for a 2003 SE Majes. Blue with frost cloth, TE, sunroof, splash guards. He gave me a quote at 23,883 = invoice -2000 rebate. I asked for it at 23,500 especially since they had to go find a blue one at another dealer. Is 23,500 a good range for it? I live in Naperville Il area.

Also since I can't find a Majestic Blue with black leather or cloth like I want too, so I have to settle for frost. I am thinking about getting in on the group deals for leather.

Which of the 2 leather dealers is better? ATD or leatherseats
Anyone have pics of two tone with frost int.? I would like a dark color involed with the 2 tone seats..

Thx all for your replys at my other post for info on SE or GLE looks like I'm stuck with a SE oh well either one was good enough for me.

Hopefully by the end of tomm. or thurs. I can be officially part of maxima.org.

To give you a reference point, I just bought an '03 SE in Milwaukee last week for $2400 under invoice. Basically, it was getting the $2000 dealer cash and cutting $400 into the dealer holdback. I went to all 5 Nissan dealers in the area and this was the best deal I could work out.

It really depends on the dealer and how much they want to move the '03's to get more '04's on their lot. One dealer who matched the $2400 under invoice (but offered $1000 less for my trade in) said that he would get one '04 for every four '03's he moved.

HELL no - I paid about that for mine (before aftermarket leather) back in October, before the 2k4s came out. For those specs you should be down in the $21's!!

Unfortunately you can't search to find them, but there have been a lot of threads on this, and now that the 2k4s are here and the 2k3's are getting old on the lots, dealers are rolling over on them. Either turn the screws on this dealer, or go to another one.

I would try to get them down a little bit more if possible. I guess it really depends on how badly you want it and how much you're willing to spend.

As for the interior, i think the frost looks better with the blue than the beige.

Just because someone can get a 03 loaded for 24k doesn't mean everyone in the world can. Not all dealers are the same people and I'm sick of seeing these threads about well I saw 03's going for 21k fully loaded so your getting ripped. Majestic Blue is very rare and I have seen one out of about 60 maximas at 3 different dealers. 23.5k isn't that bad of a deal if that includes taxes etc.

If it has everything you want I would go for it. Originally everyone thought the 03's would be so cheap when the 04's came out - but then everyone went to get an 03 since it was cheap & now there are none. Just be careful because the resale value on this gen dropped big time when the 04 came out so as soon as you drive off the lot you will take a hit no matter how cheap you buy it. And be even more careful if you wind up with the frost interior - I have frost leather in a 2000 & the seats are clean but the carpeting doesn't quite look like frost anymore Good luck!

He asked if $23,500 is a good range for the car; the answer is no, it's an okay range. And if other people can find a GOOD deal, it's obviously possible to do - so why shouldn't he try?

Its possible that he has and this was the best deal available. I wasn't coming down on you personally but the people that just post in thread sayin new 03's loaded for 21k in my area get on my nerves. 23.5k out the door isn't a bad price for a cars sticker price around 28k.

I sent this response out about 1.5 weeks ago.

Going 50% into the holdback is good.

I went 100% into the holdback but then, had to pay $125 office fee.

The holdback is about $700.

Where they get you is in the trade-in price. You must compare that too. Anyone can buy a car cheap....it's the trade-in price that kills you.

thanks

Vic

I talked to a dealer about an '03 with everything but NAV for $25k. I thought it was an okay price but they didn't have the car in Atlanta, so there would have been a shipping charge too. With the tax it was still more than I wanted to spend. I told him I wanted to drive out for $25k but he never called back. Guess I was below the holdback.

I've heard from a very reliable source (and this may not be true) that Nissan dealers are making about $3-4 grands off from selling the 03-Maxima at invoice price.

The 23,500 is before taxes.

The thing that is getting me into a bind with this dealer is that I'm getting a deal with the finance manager. She is a friend of my friend at work, and she is able to get me in at 1.9 APR for 60/months with my poor credit (damn college days).

Another thing is if this dealer had the car on it's own lot I would be able to get at them for less, but right now it's getting hard to find a 2003 with Majestic blue w/o frost leather (rather upgrade frost cloth to a two tone or rather have black). I just hope they don't try to slip in a fee to go get the damn thing.

The thing about a trade in, well I'm getting one hell of a upgrade from my current car which is a 1990 Ford Thunderbird with 134,000 on it, brake pads that are not there anymore, completly faded paint, a big *** dent in pass. door, and I have to start it with a pair of pliars at the crossover switch thingy by the battery. Damn Fords and their switch by pressing the brakes to start the car has died again and I refuse to spend another dime on it. So I can't work on them or they can't work on me on my trade in.

Another thing, doesn't what region of the nation affect the price of the cars?

Absolutely not. Right now that car should sell for $20,500-$21,000 MAXIMUM!!! And that's using sales figures from the Atlanta, GA area...

So you're saying a car with an invoice price of $25,883 is selling for $21,000 or basically $5000 under invoice????

why? if they ask, i tell... i think pretty much all over the same deals are being run, heck if you can get a deal like here in florida in new york (which is higher than most places), i'm sure the dealer can offer the same elsewhere. and hey you know what, if you do the figures, down here a 2k3 se with runroof, 17's, leather and spoiler for $21k (my buddy got one for 19k), than you have it transported for about $700 you are still saving money

when we were gettin my moms 03 GXE the sticker price was 25,689 invoice was like 23,600 and we got it for 21,100$ which i think was a decent deal plus the color was right so my dad decided to get it(he said he would rather pay couple hundred extra but have the color he likes)
when i was talkin with the manager at evanston nissan when we were buyin the 03 max he said he can get me an SE 6 speed with sunroof for like 22,500-23,000 from a different dealer

If you can get the 1.9% through this dealership then I would go for it. Even if you get the car for $2,000 less somewhere else (which I wouldn't count on) the higher interest rate because of your poor credit would eat the savings up and then some. I got 1.9% for 60 months on an '03 Max a few weeks ago and I figure I'll spend about a grand in interest over the life of the loan. With interest rates like this it doesn't even make any sense to put a dime down. Just take what you can get for you trade and finance the rest.

Actually, he'll end up paying more depending on the interest rate he can get elsewhere. Let's say he finds another rate at 5%, with a car price of $21,500 he'll pay $405.73 / month for 60 months. With a price of $23,500 and an interest rate of 1.9%, he'll pay $410.88 / month for 60 months.

Anyway (Jo Jo Dawg), based on your explanation of the situation, you might be in a good deal because of the non-financial concerns. If you have poor credit (took me a long time to shed my college credit too ), you may not be able to find a better deal. And this one isn't a bad deal, so...

Good luck!
