Test drove a VE 5 speed...
...WOW!
After having my VG for a year and a half, it was like night and day.
Twice as smooth and twice as powerful. After about 4000 rpms (?) and the VTC cam switches, that thing pulls like a bat out of hell.
I've been looking for old school Sentra SE-R's for a while now to no avail, so I figured what the hell, why not see what everyone was talking about and drive a VE. I must say I am very impressed and if one with lower miles than the one I drove comes along, I will defenitely scoop it up.
3rd gen bodystyle + 4th gen speed = BLISS!!!
BTW it was a pearl white 1994 with 130k miles, no VTC noise whatsoever, and mint interior. Probably could get it for less than $4k, but thats only 20k less miles than my old 89 SE had.
