Is warranty voided by lowering?

Hi,

That's pretty much the question... Thanks to so many of you, I am interested in lowering the max. Will that void the warranty? And how much can I expect to spend?

you're opening a can of worms, man...

in general, no, they can't/won't "void your warranty" unless the lowering causes the damage... like if you put in maxspeeds on stock struts, then blow a strut - no warranty on that. But, if your exhaust fails (for whatever reason) they could also say "lowering caused you to hit the ground and damage the exhaust" and not cover that.... in general, no; in practice, who knows.

I went the cheap route and just got Maxspeed springs. They're less than $120 shipped off ebay and I have a friend who'll install them for free, so it's costing me $120 + beer for my friend

yeah I tried to pay with beer, but it never worked. I had to end up doing it by myself. Owell I learned something new and it wasn't that hard anyway.

It voids the warranty on your suspension, thats all. Some1 like myself has no worry about this because if I do have to go to the dealer, I have all the tools necessary to return the car back to stock be4 it goes to the dealer. They will never know anything was every changed. I do a perfect job everytime, what can I say.

This really needs to be put as a sticky. If you buy a computer and put a DVD player on it that you bought from Best Buy, the DVD Player isn't gonna be covered by the Dell warranty. The rest of the computer is.

Void the warranty? No. Could the dealership possibly reject your request for warranty work on parts related to suspension because of your aftermarket springs/struts what have you? Quite possibly. It all depends on what the failed or defective part is exactly.

Also, keep in mind that the suspension is only covered under the 3/36 bumper-to-bumper warranty.
