Protecting Your Precious Investestment..Your MAX

I was thinking..considering the MODZ moSt of us has... espcecially the cosmetic modz such as aftermarket fogs, stillen lip and clear corners that can easily be stollen while at a movie, and your car is in a parking lot, what anti theft device are you currently using... need ideas to protect my investment..any suggestions appreciated

I dont think a car alarm is going to do jack sh*t if someone tries to steal your lip or clear corners. Any particular reason why you wrote "modz"... I guess that must be the cool way of spelling mods

Wow. Pleaple stealing your corners and foglights. I usually worry about people stealing my rims or System. I guess I wouldn't buy a good alarm where you live or it might get stolen.

I dunno if you have one, but Don (Pearl96Max) has great deals on Viper alarm and remote start systems.

And you can use a car alarm to protect your cosmetic mods. Use shock sensors. If you set the sensitivity right, it will go off the next time someone tries to rip off your lip or pry out your corner lights.

viper550 is a great alarm but it wont do sh*t in this position. Get a pager alarm with some type of airhorn so u not only know when someone is f'ing with your sh*t but your car will bark loud enough that everyone will see the fool and he'll look real stupid running down the parking lot with a stillen lip over his shoulder.

Viper 790 Responder, thats what i got.

honestly people, i'm not afraid of my stuff being stolen: I have only red/clears and clear corners, which are useless to everyone exept maxima enthusiasts. I have a 99 SE-L, with the immobilizer, so i highly doubt the car will be stolen by conventional rip-out-the-lock-cylinder-and-shove-a-screwdriver-in-there thieves.

My biggest fear are jerkoffs who have nothing better to do with their time than to key up someone's car, or bust a window out. Or careless people who open their doors into your car in parking lots.

Someone needs to develop a way to protect against these kind of things

Man that was a good chuckle. But any way, they were just trying to help you. If you ever want someone to help you don't shoot down their ideas like that...that usually doesn't go over too well.

Smith & Wesson. I don't advocate taking the law into one's own hands, but I don't advocate someone stealing my stuff, either. Actually, if I lived somewhere people would steal clear corners, I'd look in to the shock sensor idea. But you might get alot of false alarms from thunder, loud music, etc... if you set the sensitivity that way (artillery used to do it to people's at Camp Lejeune, even though the impact zone was miles away). Or maybe hook up some contact sensors to the clear corners/front lip like are on house windows. Contact is broken, alarm goes off.

If your at work, Just always park where you can see your car, or take a peek at it every now and then. If you go to the movies/mall, or places where you can keep an eye on it, drive with a friend , or use the g/fs car... If not make sure you always part near the front of the building, where there is more trafic...Im sure people would be more scared to break into a car thats near alot of people walking around.

Personly i dont sweat it that much. If it happens it happens. The car it self is insured, and big things like my rims are too, so just do the same when you get things like sound systems or rims. If your clear corners get stolen, who cares, its really not that big of a deal

Good luck

I have found that car alarms dont do crap if you are away from your car.... The only Alarms that do any good are the ones that immobilize the car if someone tries to steal the car itself...... Other than that, all you are buying is a noisemaker that hardly anyone pays attention to..... lol

yup!!! the best theft deterrent haha removing fuses and relays

but it still allows people to take stuff from your car but... it limits it buy not letting them move your car at all unless they tow it (which has happened before!!

the only real way to avoid crime like that is to stand near your car with a shotgun, or to not own a car at all....... I am convinced that car alarms are practically worthless... The only ones I woule even think of getting are ones with immobilizers or LoJack....... Other than that, ALL other car alarms are nothing but expensive noisemakers that nobody pays attention to

Ive seen some add on sensors that detect when a wire is cut, for things like foglights, and set your alarm off. Other than that, I would look into some sort of pressure switch you could rig up for the clear corners, you could always install a screw from the backside and they wouldn't be able to get them out without a lot of work...
