Cattman Exhaust too Loud - What to do?

I got a CAI, Cattman Y, Random Catalytic Converter, Cattman B, and Cattman Exhaust. The exhaust is driving me nuts. It drones too loud for my tastes... Is there anything I can do to make it quieter at all??? thanks

If the B-Pipe doesn't have a resonator... Get a B-Pipe that does have one or have one welded on.

Does the cattman have a resonator? If not, so what zumble said. If it does, you should look into adding another one, or even using another straight thru muffler as one...

I thought the Cattman B has a resonator, but even with that added on, it's loud as hell. Maybe I'll email cattman

I dono what he could do for you. I believe it's been pretty well known that the cattman exhaust system is damn loud. The goal of cattman wasn't just an exhaust. He made an all out performance exhaust. Noise wasn't a consideration.

What size is the tip? I have a 4.5" tip and i made my boys resonator(the funny looking thing that goes in the tip of the muffler) fit inside, i drilled a hole for the screw and shove it in some times and the exhaust sounds much quieter, try something in that area.

Well like I said, you could always have another resonator welded on, or a straight through muffler. I know a place locally that will do the welding for around $30, I don't know how much they would charge for the resonator of muffler though...

well when I emailed cattman in the past, he said it wasn't that loud, but the LOUD DRONING at like 2000 rpm is pretty much making me go crazy and giving me a headache...

I think the tip is around 4 inches or so, I can go measure it in a bit. Where did you get the resonator from maxspeed96CT? thanks!

Cattman Catback
Good quality catback. It is made out of all-stainless steel, has 2.5" diameter piping, is mandrel bent, and has a resonated B-pipe. Cattman claims that it was designed to sound good with Y-pipes. It costs $599 from http://www.cattman.com

Yea, we never got any feedback from the cattman exhaust, so we never added anything about how loud it was in there. But we would like to know how it compares to the greddy and or stillen in terms of droning and volume.

well, drewm, cattman claims it ain't all that loud, but from the searches I've done tonight (went through at least 40-50 threads), the cattman exhaust is to be considered "loud." At cruising speeds on the highway, it ain't that noticeable, but when I'm just over 1600 rpm, it DRONES... I got the full Cattman setup with a RT Cat. The Y is completely wrapped with exhaust wrap, but I only wrapped like 1/5th of the Bpipe cuz I ran out of exhaust wrap. At first, I only had Y/Cat/stockB/Cattman Exhaust on, and it was loud as hell. Their B pipe softened the noise, but only by a little bit. I'm still trying to see if there's anything I can do to lower the noise, if not, I gotta go back to stock or find some other alternative... I haven't heard the exhaust from the outside, but from the inside, even with CD on very loud, it's too noticeable for my tastes. I have not heard either the Greddy or Stillen, so I can't compare. Your site is great, btw, thanks!

I think most aftermarket performance mufflers will drone in the 2k rpm area. It probably has something to do with the VQs' firing order I have a powertech muffler, and it also drones in the 2k-2.8k rpm range. After 2.8k rpm it's totally quite. The loudness of my muffler changes from time to time for reasons unknow to me. As the temp gets warmer the muffler quites down.

I am so pi$$ed, yeah it is stainless but the worst grade probably you can get. Ive had the cattman b- pipe on a week now and the weld in the center after the resonater is already rusting . Why cant we get a fully 304 stainless exaust, or titanium ,hondas have them. If the claimed stainless is magnetic it is **** , 304 will never rust and its not magnetic. There was only one spot on the catt b- pipe that was 304 stainless the tiny bung for the O2 sensor. Ive spent $1500 on b -pipes and mufflers. We are getting overpriced junk ,there are titanium exausts for $700 , we are getting ripped.

krismax: my Cattman B didn't have no bung for the o2 sensor. I believe I'm still plugging my o2 sensor into the stock OEM holder.

APEXi WS makes a real nice cat back. I use mine with the stock y-pipe and it comes with a new resonator. Nice growl when you mash the throttle, but relatively quiet at cruising, whether at high or low or moderate speeds. Got mine frpm rpmmotoring.com for $404.27 shipped. Great fit, clearance and no surprises.
