6"x9" in rear deck

6"x9" in rear deck

i was wondering if anyone has put 6x9's in their GXE rear deck which holds 6.75" speakers sorry if i reposted this but my other post got deleted

I guess you don't have the Bose system. What you can do is either find the speaker/amp mounts from a Bose equipped Max and bottom mount the 6x9s or you can try to cut the hole out to make them top mount. The problem with top mounting 6x9s is that the rear deck cover with the grills won't fit correctly. I don't know how true this is but i've heard that the factory grills in the rear deck are made of a special material and that aftermarket grills will melt due to the sunlight. I'd try bottom mounting them, its the easiest way to do it.

Yeah my car did not have Bose, and I bottom mounted them, it was very easy, and I like having the stock speaker grills anyway.

I did it in my 90 gxe. It is very simple. The wholes and everything are allready there. All you have to do is put your speakers in the bose rear deck mounts, get the mounts to clip in place to the rear deck and bolt them down. I also bought the 6 1/2 front speaker pods from james and everything sounds great!!! I have the infinity kappa speakers all around and I am very pleased.
