Which Maxima generation had the most room for 3 adults in the rear seat?

I have a '90. Just wondering if any of the later generations have a little more room for 3 back there.

The newer the more room from what I noticed....3 in the back two if your fat

 

i thought 3rd gens were the roomiest, interior wise

 

my 3rd gen had more room than my 5th gen, and my 5th gen felt like a 3rd gen with a bubble wrapped around it. It had a lot more wasted space given it's size.

 

I think cars today have more crush space all around them to make them more survivable in crashes. Seems like wasted space but may save lives. I seem to recall a lot of progress in crashworthiness being made in the '90s, right after the 3rd-gen was introduced.

Sorry - got cars confused -- it's a 2012 Maxima SV

 

I have a 2nd gen, 3rd gen and 5th gen and I can see side by side, the 5th does have the most space across the width and does have leg room as well. 3rd came close but mostly leg room.
