anyway of reducing the clutch engagement distance?

hi all,
i have a 03 se 6spd. i like the car for the most part but the really long clutch engagement distance (not total clutch travel, just the distance where the friction plates start to bite til they fully engage) is annoyingly long. i know it's a hydraulic clutch so it's self adjusting, but does anybody know a way of reducing that travel without replacing the clutch with an aftermarket racing one??

with the OEM clutch, I think you're stuck with the way it is. Just try to get used to it.

?

so you're saying that if I buy an aftermarket clutch with more gripping power, that the distance will be somewhat reduced? How's that work? The clutch pedal is in the same position, right? Will it just need to be pushed as far, or does it just change the point at which the clutch bites?
