Bose speaker sleeping with the fishes...

Hey:
My left rear speaker on my 00 Gle just died. Though maybe was the wiring, but changed the right one to the left side and no problem. The dealer asks 125 bucks for a remanufactured one from Bose. That is off the scale for only one speaker.
What should I do, I know I canīt use aftermarket ones, and donīt want to change the whole setup.
Thanks for any replys,

Alex

Why can't you use aftermarket speakers?

That's really not a bad price for a good speaker...

Have you checked out what MB Quartz's and some of the other high end speakers are running?

if it's really more than you wanted to spend, then you could go here http://www.carstereohelp.com/sales.htm

These prices look a little cheaper, and from what I've heard this is a good company (despite the boring website)

The thing is that the bose amplifier and speaker are rated at 2ohm and the aftermarket ones are 4ohm. Not compatible because you would need more power to run the speaker.

Are you suggesting bose is high end?

Have you heard them, though? The Bose system is a good sounding system. It's definately not low end...

fine, its middle range. for a stock system it is good, but as good systems go, its mid level.

Almalave, have you checked out ebay? I saw some Bose speakers just now for a 96 Max. May save you a little more money than some of the other optioons...

Could that be why the Bose HU died?... Try running car stereo speakers on your home stereo, it won't last long (4ohm on an 8ohm system).
