Gas mileage - is this what you see?

So I started checking the gas mileage of my 2k3, MT by driving a mix of city and highway.
More highway than city, actually.

Did the measurement twice after driving really conservatively (read: nerver touched 4K RPM).

On-board computer calculation of MPG ranged from 27.6 to 28.2, but mostly stayed at 28.0.

Fill-up reality was 23.9 MPG both times which suggests consistant driving habits and a big error with the car computer.

Also, these checks indicated there is almost 3 gallons remaining when the low gas warning comes on.

Do the rest of you see the same thing?

Yep! This is a known issue and Nissan doesn't care to solve it.

Computer error - yes, all of us have it

Low gas warning light - dunno, mine's never come on

BTW, your mileage is way higher than mine. Mine (city only, back roads) hovers around 15 actual (my avg. speed is 26 mph, if that tells you anything...)

3-4 mpg is the average error rate for the 2k2/2k3 max's.

Ive been wondering the same thing. My 02 MT syas its averaging 31 mpg and Im at 220 miles at the half tank mark. Should be more than that at half if Im really getting 31 mpg.

I am getting between 18.5 and 20 MPG in my 2K1 automatic. most of my driving is done in NYC rush hour traffic though so that probably has something to do with it.
