Rear brake spoiler LED brake light FAQ
Rear brake spoiler LED brake light FAQ
After doing some research and getting burned on a recent order, I decided to collect some data here to help others out who have a malfunctioning rear brake light in their spoiler, be it all or just one bank or section of LED lights that are burned out.
First off, a write-up is provided for those who have original OEM LED brake light assembly that attaches to the spoiler with 3 screws, also known as having 3 tabs:

The above should assist you in at least seperating the LED spoiler light from the spoiler. Another post that will help as well:

Member Max96LSU was one of the first to detail an aftermarket source (part number 555111) replacement from www.electrodyne.cc:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....threadid=53146
After doing what I thought was extensive research, I ordered the 555111 part from electrodyne and received it today.
My particular spoiler had 4 tabs for securing the LED spoiler light to the spoiler itself, as does the 555111 replacement part from electrodyne. I thought this was the primary issue to watch out for when getting a replacement. Unfortunately, I failed to combine my own common sense with the research others had done here.
Two issues I immediately noticed were a) There were fewer LEDs on the 555111 replacement LED light than mine and b) the spoiler itself was deeper than the cutout in the spoiler for accepting the LED light.
So, I discovered the part number for my particular aftermarket spoiler LED light is 721351 and was made by Teledyne. That is simply not made anymore, so I went back to basics and noticed the following about my particular spoiler led light:
a) 15.5 inches in width
b) 1 inch in depth
c) 60 LEDs are inside
I went back to www.electrodyne.cc and discovered this light:
http://www.electrodyne.cc/Merchant2/...ct_Code=555115
It appears to meet the dimension requirements of my particular aftermarket spoiler. However, part 555115 does not have tabs for securing the screws to the spoiler. It should be noted however that the top of my spoiler LED light was secured to the spoiler by double-sided tape on top of the spoiler LED light, making the screws more cosmetic than functional anyway.

In general, here are my recommendations and observations about OEM and various aftermarket LED spoiler lights:
Width: 15.5 inches
Number of LEDs: 60
Depth: Unknown; could be 1-5/16" or 1" or something else
Number of securing tabs: 3 for OEM and 4 for after market
Here are the 15.5 inch 60 LED spoiler lights available:
Part Number 555110 - Rear brake light,15.5 inches w/3 tabs & cover plate;60 LED
Part Number 555115 - Rear brake light,15.5 inch w/o tabs,60 LED,for 46410
In addition, there are other 15.5 inch LED spoiler lights available. Simply search for "15.5 LED" on the electrodyne.cc website and you'll see 10 or so lights available. Doing a little research up front will better insure your finding the correct light the first time around.
I'm going to try the 555115 and let everyone know how it turns out. Based on the dimensions as I understand them, it looks as though it will be fine.

I would say that is safe to assume. All Maxima LED spoiler lights I have seen have always looked the same, which implies 60 LEDs and 15.5" in my world.
An update for everyone. I received my 555115 rear LED brake light spoiler from electrodyne on Monday. Here are some comparison pics between my original 4 tab after market 60 LED 15.5 inch spoiler (in the front in the pics) and the 0 tab 60 LED 15.5 inch spoiler:

Interesting things to note:
The electrodyne 555115 spoiler had 4-tabs at some point in the manufacturing process, but they inexplicably broke off the 4 tabs!?! I have no idea why, but they did.
As I stated earlier, my particular LED spoiler light was both screwed into the spoiler AND double-sided taped between the top of the spoiler LED light and where it attaches to the bottom of the spoiler. I used 3M double sided tape, called Scotch-mount molding tape. It is 1/2" in width. You can find it at most major auto parts stores and Wal-Mart in the auto body-repair/spray paint section.
Also, it's good to strip any wax off that underneath section of the spoiler so the double-sided tape will adhere well. A product such as 3M Adhesive and Wax Remover works well for that. It simply gets the surfaces real clean so the tape adheres that much better.
The diagram for the 555115 spoiler on the electrodyne website isn't exactly correct. It alludes to it "convexing" outward in the middle, where it is "deeper" in the middle than at each end of the spoiler LED light. My original 4 tab aftermarket one convexes like in that diagram. However, the 555115 was about 1" in depth across the entire light. This isn't a bad thing and doesn't cause fitment or even look issues in my opinion. This installed pic better illustrates that:

You will notice how it looks a little "deeper" or more recessed in the middle than on the ends.
Other notes on installing:
For wiring, I simply removed the little rubber grommet that surrounds the wires going into the spoiler (that run to the other brake lights) and placed the rubber grommet near the wires coming right out of the new spoiler. I do the "splice and dice" for connecting the new wires to the existing ones so that there is enough space to push the new connections that have electrical tape around them into the spoiler and then the opening for wires in the rubber grommet won't have to be artifically enlarged to allow the new wires to push through.
Also, take a 3/16" hex head key and tighten all the screws holding the spoiler down. There are 2 at each end of the spoiler and 1 in each other mounting point of the spoiler to the trunk.
In addition, I re-attached the screws for the tabs back into my spoiler so that I wouldn't have to keep up with them. They don't interfere with the installation of the 555115 spoiler LED light when using double-sided tape.
I would say with the use of double-sided tape, the 555115 spoiler LED light would fit all OEM and aftermarket spoiler applications. It's only $24, but it's $10+ for shipping from www.electrodyne.cc. In addition, OEM spoilers with 3 tabs should be able to use either the 3 tab 555110 or the 0 tab 555115 spoiler LED lights.
