RearView Mirror - Hot Sh*t!

Ok, so... my sister had my car before I did. She had a beaded necklace around the RVM (rear view mirror) - It broke one day (the necklace) , and when I got the car. I decided to put some subs in . Buuuut - every time the subs hit the RVM would rattle and sound like shiznit. So I took it off, got those bead out...but now it wont go back on! There's a screw in the back of the RVM that holds the tightness of the angle you can put it at. (get it?) And that screw will GO IN THE HOLE - but wont screw into anything.

Dealership cost for new RVM = $91.99 HAHAHAHAHA

Umm...went to AutoZone, got one of theirs...but it didnt fit on the ball. Any suggestions?
