New pads but noisy, why?
New pads but noisy, why?
I changed my rear and front brake pads like 3 weeks ago, when I first put them on it was working fine no noise or anything, but now everytime I step on the brakes it makes that squealing noise? Can someone please tell me why this happens? Did I have to change the rotors too or something?, my front pads are midas lifetime warranty and back once are some other brand I can't remember the name, but they are all premium.
I'm guessing the Midas brake pads are metallic, all that black stuff from the brake pads are sticking into the rotor and now I can see all those black spots on the front rotors
I did turn the rotors , I had some grease on them so I kept turning and turning to clean them

You are probably using metallic pads. Maximas need ceramic pads. Metallic pads give off loads of dust and are LOUD!

the sound I hear is when the car is been on the parking for a little longer time and after I start it up and put it in reverse and step on the brakes, it makes this loud sound coming from the back, like vibration and loud sound my head just wants to explode that how loud it is.This is another problem if anyone can please explain this, Thanks
Here's the problem with that. The back brakes don't engage unless your e-brake is on, because that is what they are for. If it isn't coming from up front then either your e-brake is sticking or you're not hearing things corretly.

I run Axxis Metal Masters which give almost no dust. They also stop very smooth and are quiet.
Buy a new shim kit from Nisssan and install it. Use the lube and anti squeal grease that comes in the kit. Your brakes will be nice and quiet again.

i have metal masters front and back and they dont squeel, and have very minimal brake dust.
make sure you use the anti-squeel goop.
ok well i have two things you might want to consider:
SHIMS
ANTI-SQUEEL GLUE
if those two aren't present, then most likely it will squeel. When I got my pads changed, they put shims on the front pads but didn't use any glue. It squeeled so bad. And for the rear... they didn't put shims at all!

I've had a terrible squealing with my new front pads, even after using the anti-squeal goop. Guess I'll buy new shims and see if that helps.

Turning means machiening the rotors...hope you are not referring by your post that you actually physically "Turned" the rotors to clean them"

Yeah turn your rotors <-- (spelling?) My back brakes made this insanely loud noise for a couple of days liek really bad scraping....just turn you rotors no prob....the sound should be gone. Plus it helps for brake wear....DON'T BE A SCHOOL BUS!
My 1998 Maxima started having similar problems to what 03G35 described. When I am backing up, I get this loud horrendous "dragging" noise when I brake. It only happens in reverse and only when I brake. The noise is not a squeal as much as a "dragging" sound.
Has anybody ever seen this or know what might cause this?

thanks all
when I was changing my pads , I did put the shims and cleaned them also sprayed the pads after I put the shims on with the glue, called "brake quiet" but just yesterday I went to the dealership and they said I need to replace my front rotors because they are to thin, so that might be why its making noise,
as for the back when going in reverse making that loud vibrating noise, I will turn my rotors somethimes this week to see if it will go away,
thanks again
