95 Maxima - Starting prob/Electrical

Hello:
I have a 1995 Nissan Maxima SE (5-Speed). About 8 months ago I began having some problems starting the car. Basically, I would turn the key and there would be a click. I would try several more times pressing up and down on the clutch and it would finally start. It got better over the past several months but had it's moments. I took the car in for a harmless inspection and then the car no longer started. Moreover, the power windows and sunroof no longer worked either. Everything else electrical seems to work.

So I researched the Internet newsgroups and noticed others have the same problem. So, I tried the method that was posted some time ago to diagnose the problem. I removed the clutch interlock relay and jumped pins 3 and 5 with a paperclip and it starts right up with no problem whatsoever. I was very happy so I went out and ordered the part (special order). However, when I got back home I thought I would try to insert the RAD FAN1 relay (which has the same part #) in the Clutch Interlock slot thinking it would startup. Well, it didn't.

So I think I ordered a part I do not need and am now confused as to what the problem is. Obviously, the starter is fine and the battery is good.

So currently, the car starts with the paperclip in the relay slot and I have no power windows or sunroof. I guy who inspected the car said it could be a serious electrical problem. Are there any other relays I can check here? Are the 2 problems related in any way? The car has 184,000 great miles on it and I would love to keep it going.

Also, I checked the 30Amp fuse for the power windows under the hood (right side near the battery) and it seems fine. I actually swapped that 30Amp with another.

Thanks so much for your help.

Take care,
John
