wastegate queston

can someone explain to me how an external wastegate works and how its mounted and connected...is there a diagram on it???

also..i'm guessin the wastegate is connected before the exhaust inlet of the turbo..and the waste gate has a dump pipe than you have the exhaust outlet by itself connected to the cat, than through the back...but could you connect the dump pipe to the exhaust outlet???

a wastegate is actually pretty simple. It goes on the exhaust pipe feeding the turbo, and all it does is bleed off the exact amount of exhaust once your boost reaches its certain point, to keep the turbo from spooling/boosting even more. You set it to 10psi, and once your turbo is pushing 10psi it bleeds any additional exhaust, either atmospherically or through a pipe going back into the exhaust downpipe AFTER the turbo...
