Just heard on the 6 o'clock local news that this past weekend was it for the Custom Compact show at Carlisle. There have been increasing problems over the last few years with underage drinking and drunk and disorderly arrests and they just announced that this was the last straw. Over 300 arrests this weekend. They said it took police from four municipalities to handle it all. There are always problems with idiots doing burn outs and excessive volume from stereos while cruising around town every year. They get more complaints from local residents each year. There were several fights. No major injuries at least.
The head of Carlisle Productions said there is a pattern of behavior over the years that keeps getting worse and too much to handle. It has become their 4th largest attended show they put on each year, but they said, "No more."
Once again a bunch of idiots ruins it for the other 24,000 of us. (That has been there average attendance).
Maybe they should make it a 1 day show so not so many of the bad apples linger in the area. Or maybe get a record of everyone who has been fined, warned, cited or arrested somehow banned from attending or registering for the show.
Either way, we've seen possibly the last of it.

 

It was really bad up there this year, I stayed at the Motel 8 and the paddy wagon just came around loading people up for underage staurday night. Friday night they just sat there and watched as people set off fireworks and did burnouts all night.

My sentiments, exactly. Probably the second biggest show on the East coast next to Nopi. A lot of vendor and advertising support and national magazine coverage. I've been going there for at least 5 years now. It's been getting progressively worse and they finally pushed it over the edge.

man...that sux. But Brian, my buddy from work has been emailing the guy that runs it today, and he said it was still going, so I dunno man. I hope that's not the end of the carlisle car show. Especially since it's so close to my house

 

The show will go on just not at the fairgrounds anymore.

 

Heh...I really hope that's not the last of it. We stayed outside of the area so I didn't see what the scene was like on Saturday night or any other night for that matter. It's a shame a bunch of bad apples have to ruin it for the estimated 45000 people that roll through there....

 

It would be better if it wasn't right where everyone congregates in town and annoys the hell out of the residents. I think that's part of the reason why Nopi works ok and it's bigger. The track is kinda away from everything.
The guy who is putting on Import War in Hershey is purposely keeping his show to one day so people aren't hanging out there at night in the town. Hershey wouldn't put up with that at all. The hoity toity rich folk would demand to have it removed.

 

They threaten to cancel NOPI every year for the same reasons. Idiot kids.

 

I used to go to the all truck nationals every year at carlisle and it was as bad or worse than the compact car show and they said the same thing every year about that show and it still lives on.

 

That place was nuts...I stayed at the ramada right by 81. One kid was arrsted and another warned, it got pretty crazy sat. night. They shut us down at 12.

 

 

That place was crazy... being local to the carshow... i had chances to see what happens at nite during the weekend.. a lot of wicked things!
