Since my car recently got messed up in a hail storm, I've been trying to figure out what to do. I found out that none of our insurance will cover my car's damage, which I would value at around $3,000 before the damage occured. (92 SE 5 speed w/ 172,000 miles and all options except climate control). For about $1000 I can get my car basically back to normal. That would include fixing the three broken glasses (windshield, rear window, and sunroof) and putting an OEM clutch and shocks in. That just leaves the small dents all over the place (which have actually gotten a little smaller after sitting in the sun for a day). Then I could either keep my car or sell it at that point. Or...
Do I sell the car as it is and just get a new car with the help of a bank loan. Feel free to bring up ideas and suggestions. Thanks.

Very hard decision....for one things its a rare car and its in very good condition despite the incident its been through recently. I say fix it.

 

since its a 5 speed i say search and then decide...it will b hard 2 find a good condition 5-speed, but on the good side it might b cheaper than u think...thank god i dont like 2 buy used cars, crappy nissan resale is awesome

either way, if u cant find anything around town i say fix it

 

Hm....it IS a tough decision...I would say look around town first, and if you see something you like, then try calculating what you could get for your car vs. what you could get parting out most of your car? And then compare the greater value verses the cost of the car you're looking at...

Damn...I really need to finish my Stats class...

But if worst comes to worse, $1,000 isn't really that bad if you intend to keep your car at least another 5 years...

 

if i were u i would fix it cuz its true what all these guys say. its really hard to find a ve 5-speed in the condition that u have it in and $1,000 aint that bad to fix it. i have tried to look for another '93+ vg auto with all the options that my max has including the digital climate control, 4-wheel disc brakes with abs, sunroof, tan leather power seats, etc. and its been really hard for me on that one too. so i'd say fix it.
