Something so Small can give so much beef

Yesterday my friend was doing a tune up job for me. you know, the plugs, air filter, fuel filter, and pcv valve. Everything was going good until my friend started on the pcv. when he pull the old on, the gasket of the old fell in the chamber where shoots out(sorry dont no the tech terms. We tried to fish it out but no luck, so tried starting the car and drive it. My friend drove it around the block and the car stalled abit, he gave it gas and most likely the gasket shot out. Today when i was driving my sis to the doctors office, the car just stoped. I mean the Enigne just stoped and the oil & battery lights came on. Turn the car off and pull the key out, wait a min and started it up again. It works fine right, should i go to my mechanic do a full check up of the car????
