Teins and GR-2s installed with pics
Well, I finally got around to installing these last night with a buddy of mine. We did it in about 3.5 hours, we could have been done in 3, but his dog got out and we ended up chasing the damn thing for a ½ hour. Anyway, the install was pretty easy, the fronts are cake, and the rears are a little bit of a PITA. Anyone who has done the rears know that you need some small hands to get to those strut bolts!
The ride is just what I was looking for, and I am very pleased with the setup. The drop is nearly perfect F&R, and that was important to me. Too many other companies drops are uneven, some even drop the rear MORE than the front!
Here are the before and after pics..

Well, i think the ride is not rough at all. Everyone has a diiferent opinion on what "rough" is, so you have to take it all with a grain of salt. The ride is just what i was looking for, firm, not floaty and the equal drop. Find someone near you and go for a ride, if you are not sure about it..

nice drop but too low for my taste...I'll stick with my Maxspeed/GR-2 combo, especially for around my way...
Hey, can you tell us more about your satisfaction in detail? I'm getting the same set-up and I would like to know how much I'll be impressed.
Also, you didnt use camber bolts, did you?

The Drop on teins is pretty low. The ride isnt too bad once its settled in. The 1st week is pretty rough though so if any1 else switches dont be surprized but it gets softer once 1week has gone by so no real complaints. I didnt use any camber bolts, nor did I trim the bumpstops. If you live in NY or LA id say eeeeh these are not for you. In Phx however there arnt too many potholes and even if I have no choice but to drive through it, its still not too bad. I used the sleeves that were on the Teins and I have no noise (not that I know of anyway
) The car hugs the road alot better thats 4 sure and is alot more stable. Btw I dont have a rsb on mine. Here are the #'s on mine.
The front is 25.5" from the fender to the ground and 25.75" in the rear. OEM the fronts were at 27.75" and 27.25" in the rear.
bottom line, I like IT!

Do you know how big of a waste of time the bumpstops are. Hell the last time I used an air tool. By the time I was done it looked like some1 just finished peeling out on my chest! Rubber everywere, not to mention it smelled like crap.
I dont think its gonna make that big of a diff. The front of the car having the motor and tranny and all is heavy enough to let it settle low on its own. It might help a bit but for 1 of 2mm its not worth it. The Teins in time will settle 5mm lower then what the drop says at a maximum. The weird thing was with the Teins the day I got em on the fronts measured at 25.75 each from the fender-ground. The week after the fronts were at 26". I dont know what happend and why but my only guess was it might have expanded due to the sudden rise of heat in Phx in less then a week.
5 weeks later the front is now at 25.5" and through time will get a bit lower and completly settle at no lower then 25.25" which is by all means pretty low. Now if any1 is concerned with clearance issues and bottoming out, well dont be. If any1 was to bottom out here and there is should be me since I have the bodykit as well, just use common sense when parking and going up steep driveways and you'll be fine. Ive only had one incident and that was over a HUGE speed bump that was 5ft wide were my b-pipe touched which was more my fault because I went over it head on. Btw the lowest point on my car at the front spoiler the clearance is at 5.5" I have also had 5people in the car with the Teins going over speedbump even head on was no problem. I did not bottom out once. Im very surpized and impressed to be honest.

The maxspeeds dont drop the front of the max enough, thats why his car looks so high.To answer other questions, i did cut the front bumpstops, the rears i left alone. I didnt use camber bolts either. I the car tracks the same way it did with the stock suspension, so i dont even think I need to get it down.
ANd, HITMAN, i live in NY, and i aint afraid of no potholes!
I went driving today looking for some bumpy roads, surprisingly it was not to hard to find
and the ride is great. Maybe i am just used to a stiffer suspension, my 92 SE-R has full coilovers in it and was daily driven till i got the max, and that ride was rough!
Well then I cant imagine how stiff the suspension on you SE-R is. I thought you would be in shock as to how stiff the springs are right now, wait a week, they get softer then I expected. The 1st week, my cd player was skipping whenever I hit a pot hole or several small bumps. Now I just glide over em w/o any problems. I just wish I got the GR-2's rather then these Toks. I dont have any complaints about the Toks, its just that from what I hear the GR-2's do what the Toks do, only better for just a bit less. Oh well.

Maybe its rougher becuase of the tocrapos? I heard nothing good about them. WHen you get the new car, make the right move and get the GR-2s. As for me SE-R it has 350/300 spring rates, and on the street it hurt, but on the track it rules!

Either way you should be fine. Y2kSeSteve has had the sprints in for like 9months now on stock struts and no problems. The Teins should be the same. I think the whole blowing the struts out thing is exaggeratted.
Too many maybes...
Hey guys --
Thanks for your info.
Like EVERYONE else, I've been drooling to do this since I bought my '02 last year.
I only have 10k mi now, but I think I can't take it anymore.
I was sold on the Maxspeed / KYB combo, but was waiting for a TRUE fit KYB shock/strut for my '02 to be released.
Are these TRUE FIT for the '02/'03's now??
Also, I'm into the TEIN's being an EVEN drop if not lower in front --that's what I want.
I don't think I saw either one of you say where you got the sets (springs/shocks) or how much you paid for each.
C'mon -- give it up, for the .org brothers!!! PLEASE??!
There was a great write-up in the last few days about H&R + KYB setups. Good feedback on his driving impression. (by ABS)
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....hreadid=206288
Can you guys give any further driving impressions on how your setup performs???
Sorry to be a pain -- i just REALLY want to GET THIS RIGHT!!
I want the sport ride, just not TOO LOW and STIFF....that's how the wife wants it - not me.
Thanks for your help.
