I Need Serious Help With My Maxima Shifter Fast

I was driving down the road. I was stopping at a stoplight and i put the car into first, and then my shifter just went limp. It was not connected to anything. It was just stuck in neutral. I could move it around in circles, and it was just not working. What can this be. My car is on the side of the road, and nothing i can do. What could have cuased his, what can fix this.

I just had a clutch replaced about 2 weeks ago, can that be a cause. Maybe they messed something up! Help fast!

My brother did not have time cause he had to go back to work form picking me up. He said that probely was what it is. How much does that usually cost to get fixed.

So the shifter will only move in circles? Can you shift into fist gear or any other gear with out the clutch?

ManualMaxima,

Here is my opinion/guess:
Your mechanic forgot to properly fasten the stick to the horizontal linkage. This joint resides above the catalytic converter. You will not be able to do much about it while it is on the side of the road. The shop that did the work will have to tow it in ON THIER DIME to fix the problem.

This is an easy fix if in fact this is the cuase of the problem. You should not have to worry about any damage to your car due to this problem either.

Later,
D
