I have a question on S/C issue. Since I am a normal daily driver , but I want to put S/C for my car to try to feel the boost. I have 98 Auto, but I am scared to order S/C because I have heard many people blew their Tranny. What size of pulley should I use to be in the safe zone? Where I can buy the Aluminum Pulley ? Do you recommend to put S/C or just save more money and buy a new sport car? WHat is your opinion?
Maybe sell your max and get a TT 300zx or a FD RX-7 if you want 'crazy boost. ' There is always the risk of tranny problems, but if you dont drive it hard, you could be alright? Could always consider a level 10 rebuild if you have the means.
no one just blew their tranny from sc'ing... it's about the driving style.... Think of it this way... there's not enough line pressure to keep the clutches from not slipping in an automatic... so it just wears it out everytime you boost really... the more you're boosting, the more it wears... So this means if you never see boost, you'll last just as long as if you didn't have a supercharger. But then what's the point of sc'ing? ...
I think what i'm getting at is whether u run 6 psi, or 11 psi... start to save a little for a new tranny. FYI, under 11 lbs boost, my NEW auto tranny lasted a total of 4 months before starting to die, I'm doing a 5spd conversion next week.

I will betcha your tranny will last awhile as long as you don't beat your car senseless.
Take the following preventative steps before or while doing the s/c install :
- Install a Hayden 404 tranny cooler (about $36 from bulkparts.com)
- Switch to a good synthetic ATF : I recommend Amsoil quite highly... I can still drive my car thanks to it (it's been abused at the track/dyno/daily driving, and I've had the S/C running for over 10 months now).
- Do the VB mod - Maxximum Tuning does 'em and they handle their customers well.
As a sidenote, you're looking at about $60-$70 for the amsoil - I put in about 11qts in a complete tranny flush - the capacity goes up a bit due to the cooler.

I was Auto with Don's VB Mod and Hayden cooler for a year...no problems with my Auto tranny.
And just look at those gains with the MEVI + SC - gotta love that.
(then again, I suppose I am biased about the MEVI)
