Removing Door handles...how do you do it?

Has anyone removed their exterior door handles? How do you go about doing so? I need to get mines painted soon (from chrome to sterling mist). Thanks.

i believe you have to take the door apart from inside. When i had my doorlock replaced, they had to take the door apart from inside and work that way...

How do you actually get to it from inside though? I am looking at a pic of the door panel taken off, and it looks bloody confusing?!!?

Are you looking at the pics in the Haynes manual? If not, you need to get one.

$14 at AutoZone.

Thanks, but it doesn't really show/explain how to remove the handles. I think however I will use these instructions to just remove the panel and see what I can do with the handle.

In Canada eh! Me too. I just purchased a Haynes Manual for my 1998 Maxima SE. I got mine from Lordco, out here in BC. Not sure what part of Canada you are from. You are right, they don't have it at Canadian Tire, I tried there first. I paid around $35.00 for it. The Haynes number is 72021.

Couldn't help but notice you used the word "bloody"!! Are you an Englishman too? Bloody ell!

Lol...well I am pretty far from your side...out here in the east (Brampton Ontario Canada). I do not think we have the store Lordco. Do you think I can order it from the canadian tire, or they do not do such services? Perhaps a bookstore?

Bloody just happens to be one of my favourite words heh...I may have some english roots that I do not know about .
