5-SPD LSD Conversion Questions (long)...

So, I'm almost done receiving all the parts, just need a few tips about converting. Below is the part list copy-and-pasted from Hal's site at hlh0501.com:

Parts Needed:
5spd tranny (try and get the I30 LSD or Canadian Maxima LSD if possible – doubt it)
Both Manual drive shafts (if you have ABS you need specific ones, if you don't have ABS you can use ABS ones)
1 clutch kit (clutch disc, pressure plate, throw out bearing)
2 shifting rods (support rod + control rod) (acquire used w/ all the hardware)
Return spring (connect to the 2 shifting rods (Buy this new, the stiffer the tighter your shifter feels)
1 5spd starter
1 shifter (Acquire used to get nuts and bolts (buy with the shifter rods)
1 shifter console piece (interior)
1 shift consul bracket (Replaces your auto one) (interior) (dealer name plate bolt and transaxle hole cover)
1 brake pedal
1 clutch pedal
1 master cylinder
Hydraulic lines for clutch
1 slave cylinder for clutch
1 extra set of tranny harnesses (might come w/ 5spd tranny)
1 18ga wire and wiretaps
Assorted cotter pin set.
1 Manual Fly wheel
1 Manual motor mount
Tranny Fluid (GL-4 or redline is preferable)
Locking pin and clip for the clutch pedal to the master cylinder (you could bend a nail but I would go to the dealer and pay $4)
2 nuts that fit the threads on the clutch pedal.
1 bolt that bolts in the top of the clutch pedal (the dealer can find it's size for you)
1 bolt that connects the control rod to the tranny (the dealer can find it's size for you)
1 Haynes Manual just in case you need extra help

So as of right now, I'm just waiting for my clutch and flywheel. One of my questions is, I have ABS, do I need to get both (left & right) 5-spd abs-specific lsd axles since I am about to put in a 5-spd lsd tranny? Here and there I hear people say I will need a manual ecu, is there a reason Hal didn't list it on his site? I heard without it, it'll make my check engine light come on. I'll get a new one just to make sure that doens't happen. Does anyone have pics of all or most of these parts? I'd like to know what a slave cylinder or master cylinder looks like, though by the time I start the conversion I'll be sure to have my Haynes on hand, I would just like to see these parts layed out so I know I have everything before I start. I hear lots of people saying they had to run to the store for this and that, if I have to do the same, I would like to keep it to a minimum. RIght now I'm shopping around for axles, what should I expect to pay? Should I buy them new? I've found several of them used for like $150 shipped for both, is that pretty good or do they cost just a little bit more for new ones? I'm trying to get as many new parts for the conversion as I can, if you guys can recommend what to get new, that'll be great. Sorry for the long post, I just want to make sure I'm doing everything right before I ruin my Max. Thanks for reading and hope to see replies.

Definitely get the axles new. Not worth getting them used.

Ok so I found the left side at Napaonline.com, and I realized that the part numbers are the same manual or auto for the right side, I assume I could use my current right side?

Thanks for the link, though I had to fix the spelling a little bit. So, I didn't see any prices on their site looks like I'll have to give them a call, and before I do that, how much am I looking to spend on theirs?

Ok, need to get tranny fluid and I'm looking at getting Redline. Is there a specific Redline fluid to get for my lsd tranny? Is there a difference in fluids for non-lsd and lsd? I'm currently looking at this for my tranny:
http://www.247-parts.com/item.wws?sk...ieID=0YJ07WDK2

Also, is there a difference between manual ECU's from an SE and a GXE? I happen to have a GLE and I should be leaning towards the SE one right?

The GXE ECU might have a limiter which won't let you go past 117 mph. The SE ECU will not.

You sure you don't want to grab my last Fidanza? It's semi-spoken for but it might be available if he doesn't go through with it

I'll get yours if he doesn't come through in time. At myoilshop.com, what is this 75W90NS fluid that states its recommended for lsd's? Is there a difference in fluid for lsd trannies and non-lsd trannies?

I don't know. I'll have to take a look at it. What is your time frame for the swap. If this one is sold, I might be able to have another delivered but it will take a week or two. Price shouldn't change. $325+ shipping

Don't worry about it. I'm just getting all the parts together for the swap, I'll start the swap probably 1st or 2nd week of June, so my flywheel, ECU, axle, and redline should be here by then, if not the flywheel, I'll be sure to let you know. Just don't go worrying about me getting one from you just yet.

"Assorted cotter pin set."

So is this currently on my car or do I have to go to the dealer for this? Is this what I'm supposed to go get?

cotter pins are the things that hold on the gold covers that go over the large hub nuts. you can probably reuse the ones you have on now if you dont get them all bent up bad.

By looking at the install write-up, I figured it was those things, I was just wondering if there was a difference in anything.

I sold the last Fidanza I had in stock. If you need one, try to give me some time to allow for delivery. Or let me know sooner so I can see if my supplier has one or has to order one. IF you decide to order one and I have to use 2-day air, it gets more expensive. Also remember that you still need a stock timing ring gear of an OEM flywheel. Just let me know
