Rear Fill
How many of you use your back speakers? I'm thinking of getting some 6.5 inch components of front with an amp driving them and just not getting the back speakers. I figure, I'm not ever back there, so are they necessary other than for a little rear fill?
Also, I shouldn't have any trouble fitting a 6.5 in. component set in my front doors should I?

You WANT to have back speakers for fill, I tried mine without just for kicks and it makes a difference for sure, especially if you sit with the seat back all the way. Your ear grabs up the sound from them more than you'd think. The fronts are just a little too far from the ear to give all you need. I didn't spend a ton on the rears, but I got some very nice Boston rally coaxs that fit the bill perfectly and run them off the deck at low power just to round things out.
Ok. Let me rephrase that a bit. To have good imaging you dont want sound coming from the rear. If you have a sub(s) at the back they will overpower your rear 6.5"s for sure (hence no use for them realy). Now.... if you dont have subs... you can get some speakers for the rear just tune them down so they only give a bit of a fill and not play as loud as the fronts.
PS.
Dude... if you drive with your seat all the way back... damn you must be tall. I am 6'4" and I am nowehre near the seat being all the way back.
And believe me... if you have good speakers up front... and they are installed the right way... you will not need rear fill.

That is a good point. I have to put the seat all the way back. I could use a little bit more leg room as well too, lol. I guess I'll just leave my coaxials in the back hooked up and just fade it mostly up to the front.

i always have rear speakers.
If your subwoofer is crossed over much above 50Hz or so (ie. directional sound), it'll be very awkward hearing your music come from the front with some bass notes obviously coming from the rear.
I have to agree with those saying to use rear speakers. Yes they arent to be as "loud" as the front, but rear fill is definately needed. I have never owned a car without it. FYI...IASCA and USAC will give you less points for the lack of it.
