I was reading my owner's manual (just bought the car) and it says if I hold the button on my rear view mirror it would change from giving me my direction (N,S,E,W) to giving me the temperature. But when I hold it down it just turns on or off. Please help!

 

I have an 09 SV Sport and the temperature only shows up on the instrument display cluster behind the steering wheel. What model do you have? and what page number on the owners manual?

 

I think that is if you don't have nav as an option.

 

I have a 2013. Page 2-7. Now that I read it again it's kinda confusing but it says, "push the N button for about 1 second when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position to toggle the outside temperature and compass direction display on or off. The display will indicate the direction the vehicle is heading." Maybe you have one or the other.

 

I pushed that button for 1 second and it turned off the compass. If you push the button for about 8 seconds then you can select the correct location area of the country for your compass. Push it for 10 seconds and you can calibrate the compass. There is no temperature reading on my mirror.

 

boy, I remember the same thing when I got my 09. I must have pressed the buttons 50 times, alas it was not to be. Apparently different trims of car come with different features. Some come with this advanced mirror, while others are just auto dimming.
My fully loaded SV has plain vanilla mirror.

Don't take the manual too close to heart. It also stated that I should be able to see tire pressure read outs, this feature was all together omitted in 2009 Maxima.

Nissan is betting not too many people will read the manual.....
