g-tech pro

for those who have used this before, what are your thoughts and feelings about its accuracy. i havent been to the track yet but i got my hands on the gtech and the times seemed to be a little fast with me and my brother in car the weight was 3492 and i pulled a 2.4 60ft with a 6.8sec to 60mph and a 15.5 at 90mph. i only got 140hp and 152tq. i only have a y-pipe and place racing hai.

this just seems too good to be true, tonight im going to go out by myself and see what happens.

thanks

Re: g-tech pro

Don't use the gtech to compare to track times. Use it to compare cars or the same car with different mods on the same strip of road. In other words. You can compare the numbers that you friend runs in his car with the gtech on your strip of road with your numbers from your car in that strip. But don't compare them to track #s.

ok, i can see that, but do the numbers have any real value other than comparison? what about hp and tq ratings?

thanks again

I wouldn't trust the numbers that much. The thing is, you need a perfectly flat strip of road to get numbers that are close to accurate. The flatter the road, the better. I think 0-60 would be pretty accurate since its over a short distance. The longer the distance, the more margin for error because of the road.

The one time I've used a Gtech, it was at the track. One run, I ran a 15.35 and the Gtech read 15.29. I think that's pretty darn close. They only promise .1 second accuracy, and that's what I got. I trust the Gtech when it told me I ran 0-60 in 6.7.

The mph will always read higher with a Gtech than at the track. The track averages your speed across the last 60 feet before the finish. The Gtech gives you your speed right at the 1/4 mile mark.

I have no doubt that it can be accurate as long as the road is flat. The trick is finding a 1/4 mile of flat road.

In my opinion the G-tech is very accurate. I believe in the .1 difference it claims. However, it does have a 2-3 mph higher trap in the quarter. The thing about going uphill or downhill..... I have used my G-tech many many times. To me it seems that it wont affect your time. Heres why... If you are going uphill,(imagine going up in a elevator) you are pulling positive G forces. Your car accelerates slower going uphill, right? These offset each other and you will get the same time you would on a flat road. The opposite downhill. You are pulling negative G's, but your car accelerates faster. It wont give you an accurate time of when you car is actually moving 60mph, but it will give you the time you would have if you were on flat ground..

If someone has a G-tech and doesnt believe me. Go try it out for yourself

1) Picture me crossing the 1320 line.

2) Say "one-thousand-one" out loud.

3) Picture yourself crossing the line.

I run consistent 14.8's and my Pb is a 14.59.

Just don't ask me to go into the turns. That's where you'll be the rapist and I'll be the victim.

My friend got a new Spec V acouple of months ago. Nice car, great handling.
