anyone with H&R springs with KYB GR-2 struts?

I'm currently riding on H&R springs with KYB AGX struts. The ride is horrible. I played with the setting and haven't found one that's doesn't give a jolting ride. On bumpy surfaces, my car feel like it's falling apart, almost like riding on busted struts. I tried 2/4, 3/5, 3/6, and 4/8, each still gave me the busted struts feeling. So I'm thinking about getting the GR-2 struts. I just want to see if anyone has this combo first before I get them. Surprisingly, this combo gives me an even worse ride than when the Eibach/AGX combo. And I thought getting the H&R struts would give me a better ride. Wrong!

GR-2's are hard set at an AGX setting 2/4:

Unless your shocks are blown (which could be a possibility, but I've never known anyone to blow all 4 at once), I don't think new shocks will help at all.

I'm pretty sure that feeling you feel is the "stiff springs" feeling. There's not much to do except go OEM springs. Any lowered spring with give a harsh ride. Any stock rate spring that low to the ground will certainly bottom out (which is why people never recommend cutting OEM springs, you will bottom out all over the place)

The "blown struts feeling" is what happens when you see that that old car that goes over a bump and keeps bouncing up and down a few times.

Roads are rough, there's not much you can do about it. All these cars with their soft suspensions just hide what's really out there. If you were to ride a pedal bike over the same stuff at 60mph, while sitting on the seat, it would definately hurt. It's just a fact of life.

I'd get a ride in someone else's H&R setup first to make sure there's actually something wrong with your shocks before buying new ones.

Come to think of it, it might be something else. I read a post in the General Forum about how to tell if the strut mount is bad or not. I think mine could be bad. Could bad strut mounts give me that blown strut riding feeling?

Nope, they only make noises. The only parts that control the ride are your springs and shocks. Try riding in someone else's H&R car.

When my H&R's along with my AGX's were installed they felt stiff over impeferctions on the road. A few days go by and all of a sudden the ride is horrible. Turns out my right front strut mount was busted. When the guy at the shop took it off to put in the new ones (bought two new ones) it was in two pieces. The car sounded like it was going to fall apart with the busted mount. Once the new mounts were installed the car felt a lot smoother. The suspension has now broken in and the car does feel a lot better, still a little stiff, but I'm happy with the set up. Push down on the front of your car and pull up on it too(grab on to the support beam in the front), this is how I found out mine was busted. I was able to see the rubber part that is supposed to be part of the mount seperate from the mount when I did this. The rubber piece on the good mount barely moved. I have my AGX's set at 1 in the front and 2 in the back, this setup works for me and my little ones.

H&R + AGX + BUMPY ROAD = BUNNY HOP RIDE

Did you trim your bump stops?
Are you using the Motivational rear mounts?

Try the 1 all around or 1 & 2 settings, thats your softest ride.

If the ride really bothers you (got me to the point where I took the H&R's out) put the stock springs back in with the AGX's and never look at the 4 x 4 ride height.

You'll love the ride all over again.

Eibachs don't seem to have the little bounce that H&R's produce when there coupled with AGX's.

I asked about the strut mounts because when I adjusted the front AGXs, I noticed a small strip of rubber that was in the strut housing. It seem to have came off of something. I'm thinking it must have been from the strut mount. I'm going to get new strut mounts and put them on anyway. I'll see if that will do anything.

njmaxseltd: no, I don't have the Motivational rear strut mount. I did trim the bump stops though. I trimmed it when I put the Eibachs on.
