Installing XM Radio
Installing XM Radio
Hello all...
I have an 03' Maxima GLE, and have been toying with the idea of installing XM Radio.
Now the GLE has the 6 disc in dash Bose, which I dont mind keeping, but I dont want to do FM Modulation to install the XM.
I know there is a company that makes an adaptor that would interface into an existing factory input for something like a CD Changer, but the MAX already has the 6disc indash, and I dont believe it has another port for an additional changer.
Has anyone figured out another way to hardwire the XM to the Bose?
Also -- When playing CD's the sound is great. When i switch to FM -- its Horrible! What gives? Cheap speakers? Ohm rating of the spkrs?
Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated! You can email me at derek80@comcast.net.
Thanks!
Derek

I have Sirius Satellite Radio installed with the FM Modulator through the existing Bose factory radio....this is the only way to do the install utilizing the factory radio....
With the XM, I believe they give you a cassette adaptor instead of actual hardwiring.....
I plan to upgrade to a Sirius ready HU because frankly the Sirius sounds great, it's just way TOO LOW for my tastes utilizing the factory HU...
hope this helps..

No company is making line in right now for Nissan/Infiniti.
The company that you may have seen links for, I cant remember their name, the CEO is supposedly in jail now. As for Blitz, no dice... Or that other one.
As for the guy who was selling custom ones in the audio forum, he found he couldnt make any money on them and there were a few people who couldnt get them to work with different year models (96-03 *should* work -but he gave up).
I did the bose CD changer hack (the changer feeds regular analog signal, so you can splice into it). It was for a Skyfi and the volume was really low. When I added a line driver to boost the volume, the engine noise was also boosted and no amount of isolators and new grounding points could make it acceptable for me. One of the reasons for the noise and low volume is that the signal may be a balanced signal.. so trying to hack into that is not easy without noise.
