Something interesting for you turbo guys...

Picked up a heat shield for the turbine yesterday... polished and stainless steel. If you guys are interested, I can probably see if I can get a group deal going.

Don't know how much GD would be... need a number first.

Here are 3 pics:

How much of a difference in hood temp. After hard driving, the section of hood just over the turbine is screamin' hot.

Hmmmm..... try again. It's on the same server as Maxima.org so I don't know why it wouldn't work.

I don't know since I haven't driven the car after installing it. After driving hard, the area of the CF hood above the turbo isn't that hot. The CF hood doesn't conduct heat very well so I guess I won't be a good person to ask.

I'm sure it does make a difference like any turbo heat shield, but how much... I don't know.

What about this one? Same polished look and covers more of the turbine housing and made of Stainless and Laser cut. Only issue is that they want $150 for the heat shield. Unless someone can get the hookup on this price. These are made by Turbonetics.

Jeff, Im going to say MIG since you can see the filler material. TIG you normally see a brown area where it has almost fused the two pieced together.

Thanks BigDog. I guess that's a decent mig weld then? ie fairly smooth and not too goopy. Did you get all your issues solved?

Thats about as smooth as a MIG weld you can do. Very clean.

Did I get my issues resolved? Unfortunately not, im knee deep in this crap as well as dealing with multiple issues. Turbo is leaking and probably going to require a rebuild. They will just never end. Im about this close to dumping the car thanks to this experience.

I never thought the day would come where you would say that Hhahaa, I mean you got a Polished 60-1 with BB and that shield is too expensive?

Just pulling your leg. Just cream off a few server signups.

$150 can be used for a new 3" cat-back. It's only a T04E... but I'm thinking about going with a Garrett GT40 in the future. Maybe I'll get the heatshield then.

That is true.

You got the fuel pump pics already, right? I remember sending them to you via PM.

Did get them, sorry didnt respond. I just got to buy one now. Which one is that you got? Is that the external walbro you told me about?

On the GT40, will the flange and everything bolt on up? I been thinking of going that route now, my turbo is leaking now thanks to someone's failure to make sure it was installed correctly.

No problem. I wanted to make sure you got them. I'm currently using Jane's T-rex pump. Have you thought about going with a 300ZX TT pump? AntGVR4 recommended a Supra TT pump:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....25#post2043225

The GT40 will not bolt up (at least not to the T4 turbine) so you will have to get a new flange welded on, which is not too hard if you test fit, tack weld, then weld.

Let me know how much you can get the turbo. I can give you my contact if your price is high.
