My sister has a 2002 maxima and she said one of her front speakers is blown. What size are the front speakers and what is a good cheap alternative? She just needs something to listen to and the stock speaker would be too much to use as a replacement for such a crappy speaker.

at Best Buy or places like that for like less than $40. You will need an adapter bracket, because the speaker size is technically 6.75", or Oversized 6.5" as they are also known. Some manufacturers sell 6.75", so maybe you can find those at the store too.

 

I second the suggestion on the Infinity Reference. Recently they were $69/pr at Crutchfield and sound great with the stock radio although they're a tad less efficient (they're a little softer) than the factory speakers. Installation is a bit tricky though since without 1/4" adapters the speaker magnets hit the window glass. Well worth the trouble though.

 

You can cut the stock speakers out of the mount and use it for the adapter... so the magnet dont hit the window when it is rolled down. Also he said infinity components... meaning they come with tweets too, apparently you guys are talking about coaxials. Don't diss him for stuff you don't know wut your talking about.

 

Actually, I was going under the assumption that the woofer is what blew, and the tweeters are fine. The link I provided was for a dual cone woofer, a perfect stock replacement for the woofer only, no tweeters.

As far as using the old speaker basket as an adapter, it works great; I did it for my fronts to keep them away from the glass.
