what's the CHEAPEST price you've ever paid for gas?

so living in california, i'm gettin raped by gas prices, and as larry (chinaonnitrious) pointed out in his thread, gas prices may go up again

what's the cheapest price for gas you've ever paid? I remember a 3 years ago when i first got my license, a brand new gas station (USA Gasolene) opened up a mile away from an Arco and those both competed until gas prices went down to 99 cents for 89 octane!! of course i didn't have my maxima back then and didn't care about octane rating.. damn those were the good ol days.

how about yourself? And FREE doesn't count

I worked at a gas station during high school. We had a gas war the summer of 1970 and were selling it at $.22 a gallon. Yeah, I've got one foot in the grave.

I can't remember if it was 2000 or 2001--but I remember filling up in Jersey going to the shore in the summer at $0.899 for regular unleaded (let's not start, don't go there). It was so cheap I always told them to let it spill out and over the side of the car, I can afford it!

I remember those good old days. Now the prices are draining my wallet and sending me to the poor house.

If modern times aren't counted, 18 cents/gal for Ethel during the gas wars in the mid '60's. I cound fill the 22 gal tank of my '59 Buick Invicta for less then $4.
